Justice Finally Served for Breonna Taylor

It was the night of March 13, 2020 when 7 officers barged into the apartment of 26 year old Breyona Taylor.  Authorities believed her ex-boyfriend, Jamarcus Glover, was involved in a drug ring and during interrogation Ms, Taylor’s name and address were obtained by police.

As police burst into the Louisville, Kentucky apartment unannounced, Taylor’s new boyfriend Kenneth Walker mistook them for intruders and fired his gun which shot one of the officers in the leg. The threatening shots lead three officers on the scene to break out in gunfire spraying  more than 30 bullets, six of which struck Ms. Taylor and resulted in her untimely death.

An uproar all over the United States with the lead of the Black Lives Matter movement brought the fight for Taylor. Yesterday justice has finally been served. Four current and former policemen who were on the scene that night have been charged with federal crimes. The persons charged are as follows:

Joshua Jaynes, former Louisville Police detective
Kyle Meany, Louisville Police sergeant
Brett Hankison, former Louisville Police officer
Kelly Goodlett, Louisville Police detective

These officers had also lied in order to obtain a warrant they used to search Taylor’s apartment in an act which not only violated federal civil rights laws but led to Ms. Taylor’s death.

Breonna Taylor was a full-time emergency room technician and loved by her community. Supporters across the nation are relieved by the justice that has been served.
