Music World Mourns the Death of Smash Mouth Lead Singer Steve Harwell
Steve Harwell, the lead singer of the 90s rock band Smash Mouth, has died unexpectedly at the age of 56. The cause of death has not been released.
Harwell was born in Santa Monica, California in 1967. He formed Smash Mouth in 1994 with Greg Camp, Kevin Coleman, and Paul DeLisle. The band quickly became popular with their ska-punk sound and their cover of the song “Walkin’ on the Sun.”
Smash Mouth released their debut album, Fush Yu Mang, in 1997. The album was a commercial success, reaching number 10 on the Billboard 200 chart. The band’s follow-up album, Astro Lounge, was even more successful, reaching number 2 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Smash Mouth released several more albums throughout the 2000s, but they never achieved the same level of success as their early albums. The band continued to tour and perform, however, and they remained a popular live act.
Harwell was known for his energetic performances and his distinctive voice. He was also known for his sense of humor, and he often interacted with the audience during concerts.
Harwell’s death is a shock to the music world. He was a talented musician and a beloved performer. He will be missed by his fans and his friends.
A memorial service for Harwell will be held in Los Angeles at a later date.
