A friend of Liam Payne, a hotel employee, and an alleged drug dealer have reportedly been charged in connection with the tragic death of the former One Direction singer.

According to Argentine news outlet La Nacion, Payne’s friend, who claimed to be his manager, faces charges of abandonment. The charge stems from allegations that he failed to inform Payne’s family of a recent drug relapse.

Local authorities reportedly attempted to contact this friend—a businessman in Argentina—using a phone number provided by hotel management after Payne’s fatal fall on October 16. However, they were unable to reach him.
